Description: 150 acre site, including a 30 acre pond, a ¼ mile walking trail from the parking area to the pond, and an elevated viewing platform that overlooks the pond. The 30 acre pond is leased to the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission. Each year, the commission releases millions of fingerlings game fish into the lake. The best times to visit are during spring and fall migrations, and winter for ducks and geese. In the fall, after the reared fish are harvested, the pond is flooded to attract wintering ducks. The distance from the gate and around the pond edge is approximately 1 mile long.

Wildlife to Watch: This is an excellent spot for viewing mallards, gadwall, blue and green winged teal, Canada and snow geese, great blue herons, white pelicans, and common loons. Adjacent to the lake provides various views of pied-billed woodpeckers, horned grebes, common golden eyes, buffleheads, ospreys, and bald eagles. Many rare Ozark visitors also have been observed on the lake, including all three mergansers, long-tailed ducks (oldsquaws), greater scaup, western grebes, Pacific and yellow-billed loons, surf scooters, marbled godwits, tundra and trumpeter swans and black-legged kittiwakes, and many shoreline wading birds. Volunteers have placed 16 bluebird, 2 wood duck, and 2 screech owl nesting boxes adjacent to the pond area.

Special Tips: RESTRICTIONS: NO HUNTING, SWIMMING, WADING OR FISHING IN THE POND. DO NOT BLOCK THE GATE. No facilities available.
