Williams Creek National Fish Hatchery
Description: One of the largest natural springs in Arizona, Williams Creek Spring provides the water supply for this national fish hatchery, the only hatchery in the world that produces the rare Apache trout. Guided tours of the fish hatchery and Apache trout culture facilities are available by appointment. Visitors to the hatchery travel through the Fort Apache Indian Reservation.

Wildlife to Watch: An abundance of bird life can be seen in and around the observation deck, which overlooks ponds and wetlands. Bald eagle (during winter months), osprey, great blue heron, and a wide variety of waterfowl can reliably be seen here throughout the year. Other birds can include the American dipper, Lewis’s woodpecker, and rufous hummingbird.

Special Tips: When traveling through Native American lands, observe tribal regulations.
