Description: Waco Lake Wetlands
The Waco Lake Wetlands were built when the USACE did a pool raise of 7 ft. at Waco Lake. It is a project to help replace natural habitat that was lost when the pool raise was in effect. The wetlands have walkways to experience the entire area and look at different types of animals, birds, and reptiles.
Wildlife to Watch: The USACE partners with the city of Waco and Baylor University to manage/maintain the area. There is a very nice visitor’s center located at the wetlands which provides a place to have occasional programs and educational trips for the public.
